There are conversations that stay with us. Not only because of what is said, but because of how they make us feel: the presence, the pauses, and the space created between those who speak and those who truly listen.
Our latest BYON Talk was one of those moments. We had the pleasure of welcoming Paulo Salgado, teacher and consultant in communication, branding, and leadership, for a conversation that went far beyond words. In a warm and genuine exchange, Paulo invited us to reflect on the real power of communication, not as a simple transmission of information, but as a process of creating meaning.
He spoke about listening with intention, cultivating curiosity about others, and having the courage to be clear. He reminded us that the body often speaks before the voice, that empathy is born from observing without judgment, and that vulnerability is not a weakness, but a powerful expression of authenticity. More than sharing techniques, Paulo brought awareness.
Communication, as he showed us, is about presence. It is about recognising the other, giving space for them to exist, and, through that encounter, building more human relationships and more genuine leadership.
